I saw the movie Milk today. The people behind that movie have alllllllll of my respect and gratitude. Thank you Sean Penn for giving such an inspiring performance, but even more then the people in or behind the film, Harvey Milk himself needs to be recognized, thanked, and learned from. He believed in a revolution, not just for LGBT people, but for everyone who is discriminated against. Milk was always backed by the gay community, but he became the powerful figure he was by becoming allies with the black community, the elderly community, the workers union, and other groups of people fighting for their equality. This is the mentality needed for a revolution. There cannot be a seperation between one minority's needs, and another's, because both minorities are fighting the same power, and are essentially asking for the same thing; equal rights. Unity is extremely powerful and is at the heart of every revolution. A revolutionary leader cannot discriminate against any party, rather they should embrace anyone who they might be able to influence. Kudos to Harvey for being a true revolutionary.
